The former Unión midfielder has signed for the San Martín team.
Víctor “Chapa” Zapata, now 35 years old, has signed for 18 months for Chacarita. The midfielder had been playing in Unión de Santa Fé, in the Nacional B Tournament since the beginning of the 2013 season after being released by then manager Américo Gallego from Independiente de Avellaneda for misconduct and poor performance. He plays as a central midfielder and has been known for years in the Primera División tournament.
He plays as central midfielder, though he has been known to play the left flank as left wing-back or midfielder.
Zapata had played for teams like Juventud Unida (Primera D, fifth division by then), Argentinos Juniors, River Plate (two spells: 2000-2003, 2004-2007), Real Valladolid, Velez Sarsfield, Independiente and Unión de Santa Fé previously. The midfielder had won six local championships, four of them for River and two of them for Velez Sarsfield.
