The Belgrano team will become the first team in Argentina with an artificial grass surface.
After months of work taking out the grass turf and installing a new artificial grass surface, Excursionistas will become the only team in Argentine professional football to play in a stadium with an artificial surface.
This quest comes as an innovation in Argentine football for a team lying in the fourth division of Argentine football (Metropolitano B, former Primera C), looking to lessen the costs of upkeeping a grass surface in a centric zone of Buenos Aires such as Belgrano (for those not in the know about the city of Buenos Aires, Belgrano is within the city- and only 20 minutes away from Plaza de Mayo or the Obelisco).
Work on the stadium was performed by the company Estadio Modelo S.A. in an alliance with Forbex, to build a two star turf, the maximum achieved for an artificial turf fit for football, that should cause no injuries or threat to the gameplay in the field. Also, along with the field, there have been modifications to the accesses to the stands favoring security, as well as work performed on the floodlights and a new gastronomic space within the Coliseo del Bajo Belgrano.
