Forward Juan Carlos Menseguez has signed on to be the latest (and possibly the last?) reinforcement for the Paternal team.
The 30 year old player has joined the Paternal team as a free signing after the mutual termination of his contract. El rayo, as he is nicknamed, had had a season riddled with injuries, little playing time and was considered to be a player of Ramon Díaz’s taste (earmarked as one of Emiliano Díaz’s friends, and therefore one of the manager’s fetishes) and wasn’t one of the board’s preferred players.
Menseguez has previously played for River (two spells, up until 2003 on its youth teams and from 2013 to 2014 as a professional), Wolfsburg (Germany), San Lorenzo de Almagro (two spells- 2007/2008 and 2009/2011), West Bromwich Albion, and now Argentinos Juniors. He can play either as a winger or striker. He has won three titles- one in 2007 with San Lorenzo, and two in 2014 with River Plate.
He is one of the last hirings in a buying spree executed by chairman Luis Segura and manager Claudio “Bichi” Borghi, that also involved the signings of Matias Caruzzo, Juan Sabia, Cristian “Lobo” Ledesma, Diego “burrito” Rivero and superstar Juan Román Riquelme.
