The former Santamarina (Tandil) defender has become Atlanta’s first signing for the upcoming season.
Leandro Benitez, 27 years old, has become Arnaldo Sialle’s first signing for his upcoming season with the Villa Crespo team. He usually plays as left wing-back but has been known to undertake other roles in the defence, such as central defender.
He comes from playing in Ramón Santamarina (Tandil, Nacional B). He has also played for Curicó (Chile), Gimnasia de Jujuy (Nacional B), Guillermo Brown (Puerto Madryn, Federal A), Chacarita Juniors, Lanús, Argentino de Merlo and Newell’s Old Boys (Rosario, Primera División) from whose youth teams he emerged from.
Sialle will be going back to training with the Atlanta team on January 5th, though with a decimated roster as at least ten of the previous season players have been released, with known names such as Emanuel Francés, Pablo Santillo, Julián Perujo, Sebastián Sciorilli and Juan Manuel Cavallo amongst others.
THe Atlanta manager has also asked for at least one player ‘that makes a difference’ per line (Goalkeeper, defence, midfield, strikers) and so far Benitez has been the only signing but there has been contacts that may lead to the signing of a left midfielder today or tomorrow.
