Matías Castro, former Atlanta man, signs for Barracas Central.
The midfielder, 23 years old, has played only for Atlanta since the youth teams, and has spent almost a full year without playing since the end of his contract at the Villa Crespo team. Matías regularly plays as enganche, but has been known to undertake other roles in midfield such as central midfielder, or winger through the left or right.
Matías is Daniele’s first bid with two new incorporations in the works for the upcoming preseason. Salvador “Gato” Daniele has also hired Sergio Luque, a former player he managed, to replace Pedro Bocca who went on to join Roque Alfaro in Platense.
Last season, Barracas ended in third position with 33 points in 20 games played, but didn’t get to be promoted past the promotion playoffs which Villa Dálmine ended up winning.
Matías is son to one of Atlanta’s most renowned players, Fabián “Pepe” Castro, who has played for teams such as San Lorenzo as well and who manages for the Tigre youth teams nowadays.
