After a swell campaign in Estudiantes that left the manager with a sour taste in his mouth, Kopriva dives deep into the depths of the table to rescue Colegiales from the bottom.
Juan Carlos Kopriva, Estudiantes de Buenos Aires’s manager, saw his season end as el Pincha lost to Almagro in the Semis to a semifinal game that saw Estudiantes lose against their biggest arch rivals. After two attempts to promotion in the same season (for the direct spot against Defensores, and in the playoff against Almagro for 4-0 in the last game) and decided to call it quits.
He is now arriving at a Colegiales, that led by J. J. Serrizuela, led a very lucid and steadfast campaign to keep Colegiales afloat in the Primera B, a campaign that ultimately saw Deportivo Merlo and Sportivo Italiano go down.
And having kept most of the structure, Colegiales will want, through this campaign, to stay away from the relegation table and dive into the middle of the table as the six month short tournament that will only allow one team to be promoted into the Nacional B looms near.
Kopriva had managed Estudiantes for almost a year after the departure of Fabián Anselmo. He has managed teams such as Tigre (whilst in the Nacional B category), Temperley (whilst in Primera B Metropolitana), Sportivo Italiano (Primera B Metropolitana), Deportivo Merlo (Primera B Metropolitana), Barracas Central (whilst in Primera C Metropolitana), Brown (Adrogué) (Primera B Metropolitana), Argentino de Merlo (Primera C Metropolitana) and Estudiantes de Buenos Aires (whilst on the Primera B Metropolitana) previously. He has won only one title, the 2009-2010 promotion to Primera B Metropolitana with Barracas Central.
