The former River Plate and Independiente wing back joins Barracas Central to play after June.
Lucas Mareque, now 32 years old, former River Plate (Primera División), Independiente (Primera División), Porto (Portugal) and L’Orient (France) will join Barracas Central to replace injured midfielder Emiliano Ferragut, who broke his ligaments and will be out of the game for at least six months.
Mareque had been out of the game for a year after the end of his LOrient contract, and had been looking for any possible Primera División chances, and now joins a heavily reinforced yet flaky-in-form Barracas Central alongside other Primera players such as Victor Piriz Alves or Raúl “Pipa” Estevez.
As the replacement of Ferragut took a while more than it was ruled to allow the replacement transfer, Mareque will only be allowed to play after the opening of the transfer window on June. Barracas Central is currently at the middle of the table with 22 points, just 10 points shy away from leader Defensores de Belgrano.
